Ford urges 2900 pickup owners to stop driving after…

A Mazda Motor Corp spokeswoman said Thursday the company would conduct a similar recall and stop drive warning for some 2006 Mazda B-Series trucks, which were built by Ford and are similar to the Ranger. Like so many others, Tesla has been caught up in this mess and, coordinating the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced a recall of 2012 Model S vehicles in January of 2017 to replace the passenger-side air bag.

The recommendation comes after a fatal Takata air bag inflator explosion in July in one of the trucks.

In a written statement, Ford said it decided the risk to drivers was severe enough to order immediate repairs after it confirmed a second death linked to Takata airbags.

In June 2016, NHTSA warned airbag inflators on more than 300,000 unrepaired recalled 2001-2003 model year Honda vehicles showed a substantial risk of rupturing, and urged owners to stop driving them until getting them fixed.

"Ford is saddened by these tragic losses and offers its honest condolences to the drivers' families", the company said. "Ford announced that it will send mobile fix teams to owners' homes, tow vehicles to a local dealership for fix, and provide loaner vehicles - all free of charge".

Search using your Vehicle Identification Number. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford will "send mobile fix teams to owners' homes, tow vehicles to a local dealership for fix, and provide loaner vehicles - all free of charge".

NHTSA is asking the media and the public to help spread the word. To stay informed and safe, NHTSA urges all drivers to take the following five actions.

Don't call them, they'll call you.

. A November NHTSA report said about two-thirds of US vehicles recalled have not yet been repaired.

Approximately 34 million vehicles are now under recall for approximately 46 million defective Takata air bags that can explode.

If your vehicle does have a recall, call your local dealer to schedule the free fix.
