FC Barcelona complete transfer for Palmeiras D Yerry Mina

Barcelona announce that they have completed the signing of Colombian defender Yerry Mina from Palmeiras.

The Catalan giants have confirmed that they have paid €11.8m for the Colombian centre-back, with 23-year-old Mina agreeing a long-term contract until June 2023.

La Liga leaders FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Yerry Mina from Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras. He will bring a physical presence as his 1.95 metre frame suggests but he is also a quick, ball-playing defender.

A deal for Mina had been set up for after the World Cup, but Barcelona were keen to complete an early move for the defender, who made clear his desire to join Ernesto Valverde's side.

The Guachene-born star is expected to be presented to the fans in the coming days and his arrival is likely to trigger Javier Mascherano's reported move to Hebei China Fortune.

Mina was a key part for Palmeiras when they won the Brazilian league in 2016 and was runner-up past year.

Mina, Barcelona's second deal of the winter transfer window after Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho, scored nine goals in his 49 Palmeiras games, and three others for his national team during nine matches. "Without a doubt the Colombian has the potential to make it", Barcelona said in a statement on their website.
