Don't blame us for your failure in Afghnistan, DG ISPR tells US

Speaking to a private news channel in an interview on Thursday, military's top spokesman said that "peace has returned to Pakistan and its future is prosperous".

Responding to another question, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that both Pakistan and the United States continue to communication with each other on various issues of mutual interests at different levels.

Last week, in a meeting chaired by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in capital Islamabad, it was decided that the validity of the Afghan refugees' residency documents, called Proof of Registration cards, would only be extended for 30 days - after which they would have to return to their home country.

"We would like Pakistan to come to the table and assist us in this effort", he said adding that the suspension of security aid is not a cutoff and no funds have been reprogrammed.

At a separate news conference, the Pentagon said that Pakistan has the ability to address terrorist threat inside the country.

He said that former army chief General Kayani had initiated counter terrorism plan and added that the current army chief General Bajwa's doctrine will bring durable peace in Pakistan.

He stressed effective border management with Afghanistan to curb terrorist movement.

The US today hoped that Pakistan would demonstrate its willingness to aggressively confront terror groups that operate from its soil, amid reports that Islamabad has suspended intelligence cooperation with America after the Trump administration froze military aid to it.

The army general said that all operations Pakistan undertook against terrorists were different in nature from each other.

Pakistan chose to halt security and intelligence cooperation with the United States in response to Trump administration's decision to halt aids to Pakistan.

He said, "Physically the war has ended, however the present stage is hard. An active civil society and tolerance of dissenting views are vital components of any democracy", the spokesperson said as several media watchdogs came out in condemnation of the attack on Siddique. In this phase, we are fighting an enemy which is not seen.
