Alabama DL coach Karl Dunbar's playbook was stolen from his backpack

Alabama went on to beat Georgia 26-23 in overtime for the national title after backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led a comeback in the second half.

Two days before Alabama won its 17th national championship, defensive line coach Karl Dunbar had is backpack stolen. He told police that the bag contained his playbook, two cellphones, his iPad, passport, sunglasses, reading glasses and his wallet - which included $1,320.

Some of the items were later found inside of a hotel bathroom after hotel security was informed of the incident, according to the incident report.

Karl Dunbar previously coached the Jets defensive line from 2012-2014 under coach Rex Ryan.


Karl Dunbar, a former Jets coach who now coaches the defensive line at Alabama, left his backpack in what the team thought was a secure conference room at the Mariott Marquis hotel, Fox 10 reports.
