Weather forecast: Snow flurries likely to linger into the weekend

Previous forecasts this week predicted a mix of snow and rain to fall Thursday night and Friday morning, but the mixture might linger until Saturday, the National Weather Service in Raleigh said Wednesday morning.

For Wednesday, expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 44 and with wind gusts as high as 23 miles per hour.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers between 9pm and midnight, then a slight chance of rain after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 36. The high on Thursday will be around 34 degrees with winds gusting up to 24 miles per hour.

It's going to be cold, but it's going to feel even colder as northerly winds whip up to 30 miles per hour in Denver on Wednesday.

Thursday Night: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. West wind 9 to 11 miles per hour.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.


Sunday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low about 24.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 46.

There's another opportunity for snow showers Saturday night as well - 40 percent around Newark and along the Shore and 30 percent in the Trenton area.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 46.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 55. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Partly sunny, with a high near 53.
