Berg had creative direction over the DC properties along with chief creative officer Geoff Johns, whose role on the comic book films may evolve and become more advisory in nature going forward, according to a bombshell report from Variety.

"This is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio", Emmerich said in a statement. The report makes no mention of Johns being DC president, and says Johns still reports to DC president Diane Nelson. Picture Group President Toby Emmerich is considering integrating the DC films into the main Warner Bros. movie division as the DCEU presently is separate on the lot.

Does this indicate a positive turn of events in the DCEU, or are you anxious that Warner Bros. might dilute a brand that's already having an identity crisis by shifting it under a single WB production banner?

Further changes include that it's likely Ben Affleck's last appearance as Batman will be in the upcoming movie for The Flash, with it also said Matt Reeves wants to cast the new Batman with fresh talent as well for his solo flick. As a result, Warner changing things up at the executive level and considering a few other changes to help get the DCEU on track. The higher-ups are said to be upset with the performance of Justice League, with Variety reporting that it alarmed studio executives early on when they saw Zack Snyder's vision for the film.

Berg's exit comes after the latest DC feature, Zach Snyder's Justice League, is underperforming at the box office, grossing $572.1 million globally to date. While hecklers and observers opine that the studio could have earned $6 billion had "Justice League" performed well, there is no denying that the movie has still made a contribution to its studio.

Despite the mixed reaction to his efforts on Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, there's been a fierce outcry from fans calling for Warner release a Zack Snyder-helmed Director's Cut of Justice League.
