Nets land Jahlil Okafor in stunning trade with 76ers

The No. 3 pick by the Sixers in the 2015 draft had fallen out of favor in Philly, buried on the depth chart and seeking trade dating back to last season.

Brooklyn will release Sean Kilpatrick to create a roster spot for Okafor and Stauskas.

Multiple media outlets reported Thursday afternoon that the 76ers and Brooklyn Nets agreed to a trade that sends Okafor, shooting guard Nik Stauskas and a second-round pick to the Nets. He gives the Nets' offense an interior presence they've lacked, and should see plenty of usage once he's up to speed - remember, he's played just 25 minutes this regular season. "I've done everything they've asked of me and I would just like to get an opportunity to play with a trade or a buyout".

Okafor has appeared in two games for the Sixers this season. The 30-year-old has averaged a career-high 10.1 points per game so far this season, adding 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 18 games for the Nets.

Okafor, the third overall pick of the 2015 draft, was expected to be a linchpin of the Sixers' rebuilding process, but he has been grasping for minutes due to the strong play of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Robert Covington.
