Dinosaurs face extinction again in 'Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom' trailer

Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), who founded an organization to protect remaining dinosaur species, is now on a mission to save the dinosaurs on the island.

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to the 2015 smash hit Jurassic World and fifth installment to the dino-rampaging franchise launched by legendary director Steven Spielberg in 1993.

We can now add the trailer for Fallen Kingdom to what we already know we can expect from the film, namely that Chris Pratt's raptor trainer Owen Brady will be back and he'll have a little pal. If you want some perspective on that opening debut, the original "Jurassic Park" had a $47M opening, and went on to make $1B worldwide.

You can watch the full trailer above. Pratt still feels slightly miscast, but it's great to see Bryce Dallas Howard being given more to do and we always will love us some Ian Malcolm (nice beard, Goldblum). Director J.A. Bayona-taking over for Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow-established his giant creature chops with last year's A Monster Calls. It's Dr. Malcolm and his girlfriend, Sarah, who lure the t-rex back into captivity on a cargo ship which allows it to be returned to it's "natural" habitat at Isla Nublar. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Once again, we have a wild ride on a Gyrosphere which never seems to end well on Isla Nublar. Think Turok. When they get there, it's going to be so good.

The film is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018.

Did you realize Jurassic World made almost $1.7 billion and now sits #4 on the all-time box office chart?
