Capcom announces new Mega Man game in 2017...grab your Time Stopper

The game will be a traditional 2D platformer, and is set to release in late 2018.

On top of that news, Mega Man 11 was also announced with a short reveal trailer that can be seen below. Capcom's Koji Oda is directing the project, and it seems like Capcom is developing it all in house.

The game will release almost a decade after the last new Mega Man game so we can only hope that it lives up to the hype.

Capcom later added that all eight games will be coming to Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC in the summer of 2018. Smooth 3D animations and improved animations make this Mega Man look like one to watch, especially since Mega Man 10 relied on nostalgic sprites as its main appeal. Further details, such as an exact release date or what fans can expect from Amiibo support (a new line of Mega Man Amiibo figures, maybe?), have yet to be announced.

Mega Man Legacy Collection contains the first Mega Man game through Mega Man 6.

Still, the Mega Man library is chock-full of gems and classic moments, as the video below - brought to us by the always informative Gaijillionaire - reminds us. Can we get another X game in the SNES style now?
