Atlanta Reporter Drags Racist Viewer Who Called Her The N-Word

"When arguing with somebody you have to be careful not to mischaracterize their viewpoint, so I won't mischaracterize your view either, Kathy Rae".

Kathyrae1962 told Reed she "is what's wrong with the world" in an email.

An Atlanta news anchor has gone viral for her classy clapback at a racist viewer email and now she's explaining why she hit back.

"I would say to Kathy, a couple of things". But instead, I will let your works, Kathy Rae, speak for themselves.

Unfortunately, the conversation left viewer Kathy Rae fuming, so much so that she felt compelled to send Reed an email saying she ought to be fired for making "race baiting comments". As reported on sites including the Root, she was discussing the racial dynamics in the Atlanta mayor race when Kathy Rae made a decision to reach out.

After sharing the vile email in an on-air graphic, Reed stared directly into the camera and set the record straight, reaffirming that she never suggested white people couldn't talk about race. I get it. On Dec. 5, 2017, you think it's OK to call this journalist a n--.

The response came the same day as the mayoral election in Atlanta, where Keisha Lance Bottoms and Mary Norwood faced off in a tight race that was likely heading to a recount Wednesday morning.

"We do try to keep it real here", she added.

"But I could clap back and say a few thing to you". On the other hand, a Bottoms win "would continue a run of African-American mayors that began with Maynard Jackson in the mid-1970s".

Reed previously worked at Cleveland 19 for 10 years until her contract was not renewed in 2012.

"Race was woven all through the campaign and plenty of folks here were talking about it", she said.

Being a black and brown journalist is a tough job, especially now.

But she felt like this one in particular needed to be addressed.

"Do I care to shine a spotlight on a racist?"

"It's nice to know people see it your way", she said, "especially about an issue like this".

Rather, Reed said she didn't like the fact Reed noted that she had misspelled the N word. "It's inherently wrong", she says.
