Xiaomi India teases 'Desh ka phone' - All you should know

The Redmi Note 4 has been the company's most successful smartphone till date in the country and it seems apt that Xiaomi would like to call its successor as the 'Desh ka smartphone'. Both Redmi India and Manu Jain took to their respective Twitter handles to break the news.

For now, there's no information on which smartphone Xiaomi is going to launch in India on November 30, however, chances are that it could be the Redmi 5A which was launched last month in China, or, it can also be the Redmi Note 5A which was launched back in August.

Xiaomi is calling its upcoming smartphone as #DeshKaSmartphone.

Xiaomi recently shared the top slot for the first time with South Korean tech giant Samsung in the Indian smartphone market. The Tweet reads: "A new Redmi smartphone is coming your way on Nov 30!". Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain had hinted the same in his cryptic tweets about a new phone.

The smartphone will be manufactured in India and Xiaomi might add some India specific element to the smartphone.


As for its specifications, the smartphone is fitted with a 5-inch HD 720p display and makes use of a quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz. It will be available in three variants 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, 3GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The Redmi 5A runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat out of the box.

While the company has not revealed the name of the smartphone, it could be the Redmi 5A smartphone that was launched in China last month.

Much like its predecessor, there is a 13MP rear shooter with PDAF and LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS and IR blaster. The phone gets its power from 3080mAh battery.
