Mercedes CLS Teaser Vid Shows Curvaceous Body Ahead Of LA Reveal

The model arrives as part of the next-generation CLS range that's set for reveal at today's Los Angeles motor show.

We'll be on the lookout for more info on the new 2018 CLS, especially since Mercedes might decide to officially spill the beans following the leak. From the spy shots we already had a confirmation that there has been a substantial external changes to the CLS and now the video does give us additional proof that the exterior of the new CLS is significantly different compared to the previous version. We also know the new vehicle will be larger than the model it replaces.

An AMG version of the auto will be available, but it's not expected to launch on day one. Under the hood should be a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be offering 295hp or an inline six-cylinder engine that will be offering about 362hp.

Along with the power output, AMG boss Tobias Moers confirmed to our sister publication Autocar UK in LA that the "53" nomenclature will feature exclusively on AMG models which only use petrol-electric hybrid powertrains.

Diesel engines will kick off with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 228bhp, while a 2.9-litre 335bhp six-cylinder borrowed from the latest S-Class will also be available.

While the official unveil for the 2019 CLS is coming soon, the on-sale date will be near the beginning of 2018 with a European debut in March in Geneva.

Just a few days will take place the official presentation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS new generation, but to preserve the appearance of the model secret until the premiere failed: the network "leaked" official images of the auto. It was just last week that the carmaker released the first teaser image of the auto, which was essentially just silhouette if the front end. It seems that the three-pointed star recognized this and went back to the drawing board with the original in mind. It also gets a 48-volt hybrid assist.
