Marvin Bagley III Won't Return vs. Michigan State After Suffering Eye Injury

The first game of Tuesday night's Champions Classic at United Center in Chicago pits the two highest-ranked teams in the country in No. 1 Duke and No. 2 Michigan State.

Duke Blue Devils forward Marvin Bagley III was poked in the eye during the first half Tuesday night against the Michigan State Spartans and was ruled out for the remainder of the game shortly after halftime, according to ESPN's Maria Taylor.

Both teams excel offensively, while still trying to find their best defensive form. He became the first college basketball coach to win 1,000 games with the same program. The Wildcats feature a tight eight-man rotation with Hamidou Diallo leading the scoring at 17 points per game. In the season opener, Miles Bridges had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

The young Wildcats lack their usual automatic future National Basketball Association stars, but they still possess a myriad of athletic freshman gaining confidence at this level.

Duke has won six straight meetings with Michigan State, but this may be the best Spartan team the Blue Devils have faced. For their part, Michigan State has taken part in the event every year since it started in 2011, with a 3-3 overall record and a 0-2 mark against Duke.

Can Michigan State end the 12-year drought of beat Duke? The Spartans are favorites to win the Big Ten over Purdue, Northwestern and others.
