Google is Fixing Its Faux Pas Cheeseburger Emoji

But balance is restored with the latest beta revision of Android's most delicious-looking emoji, and the universally requested change should find its way to the Pixel and Nexus-owning masses this December.

When you type in the search bar, Emojipedia gives you a list of options with an explanation for each, and, of course, the emoji itself including the Cheeseburger Emoji.

Google sent its cheeseburger emoji back to the kitchen and looks to have got the order right this time.

Despite having served burgers with cheese below the patty at the Googleplex a few weeks ago, the company has fixed the hamburger emoji in Android 8.1 Developer Preview 2.

After outcry earlier this year regarding Google's emojis on Android, specifically around its version of a cheeseburger.

WHEW, Google fixed the burger emoji in Android 8.1

As reported by The Verge on Wednesday, the new OS will ship with a new and improved cheeseburger emoji in which the cheese is placed atop the patty, as opposed to underneath it. Google's Indian-born CEO, Sundar Pichai also joined the heated debate. Since then it has been up to the companies to decide if they want to place the cheese, lettuce, tomato, meat patty and more at different positions. The discussion was exclusively based on the placement of cheese in Google's burger emoji. The discussion gathered a lot of attention on Twitter and many other social media platforms. This caused a heated controversy over the correct order of the ingredients in the quintessential American staple food item.

The emoji at first glance looked similar to other "Hamburger" or "Cheese Burger" emojis used by iOS and Windows Phone.

This may seem like a very small issue to worry about but people were reacting so much over on the emoji that Pichai was forced to issue a statement.

Samsung takes a page from Google's misguided playbook, placing the cheese on top of the lettuce and sending chills down the spine.
