Farooq Abdullah says independent Kashmir not an option

Farooq Abdullah says independent Kashmir not an option

The Prime Minister, who along with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Line of Control (LOC) in Chirikot sector, lauded the contributions and sacrifices of Pakistan Army in defending the motherland and for protecting the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. "Let them fight how many wars they want to".

While saying that Kashmiri people living on Indian side should stop demanding Azadi, the National Conference supremo and Srinagar MP said that this part of Kashmir belongs to India. "Only then the peace will return to the State".

"But, I believe no talks between Delhi and Srinagar would bear the desired result because it is an issue between India and Pakistan". They should restore it. You forget the instrument of accession and say that that part is yours. All three of them have atom bombs.

He was reacting to remarks made by Abdullah earlier today in which he had said that those advocating azadi for Kashmir were wrong as the landlocked region was surrounded by three nuclear powers- India, China and Pakistan. "If you talk about this being your part, then remember the instrument as well", said Abdullah, who also heads the National Conference party. We have nothing except Allah's name.

Farooq Abdullah advocated for autonomy to be granted to Kashmir on the Indian side. They didn't recognize the love with which we chose to join them. "Indian government must also hold talks with Pakistan government because a part of Kashmir is also with them".

"The only solution to any conflict is dialogue which essentially forms the basis of our political stand on Kashmir".

"However, the way dialogue process is being handled by the Modi-led regime at the Center, I am getting a little skeptical about its outcome", he added.

Notably, the separatist leaders like the Hurriyat hawk Syed Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and others have been asking the Indian government to involve Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. We have always been forthcoming with them. He also directed that while the state is facing unrest in the Valley, India is not contributing much towards peace.
