An active shooter situation was reported at a Northern California elementary school today, a school official said.

The suspect has been shot and killed by authorities, the Tehama County Sheriff's Office says. "We have at least five scenes right now", the deputy said. "I don't know any information at this time about any of the victims at the school".

The shooter was shot and cleared by police.

According to reports, a 30-year-old man was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh. It's unclear if he's being included in the three dead, so far. There are also reports of several people injured.


Sheriff's officials say the students are now at a safe location.

Rancho Tehama is a town of 1,500 residents in Tehama County, north of Sacramento.
