Original Xbox games are still coming to Xbox One this year

While Spencer is not exactly hopeful that Sony will change its stance, he was clear to point out to the GameSpot interviewer that he can't talk on Sony's behalf and that some day PlayStation gamers may be able to play online with Xbox One users.

"Xbox One S will be the market leader for us". "It will be the console that sells".

The Xbox executive's full comments are as follows: "Whether you're on a 1080p TV or a 4K TV, you're going to have a great experience". But it's not for everybody.

"I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline", he continued. If it's better for gamers, I have a hard time thinking why we shouldn't go do this, especially when you're trying to make the gaming business a bigger business; grow it, get more games, create more opportunity. It's not true that everybody plays backwards compatibility games, it's not true that no one does. Fans who preorder Xbox One X at their local Microsoft Store can pick up their console right at 9 p.m PT on Monday, November 6 / 12:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, November 7, from the store where they preordered. But it doesn't mean everybody has to do that. Whether we've pushed the innovation too far? In a post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft says you can check out the console, just under a month ahead of its release, at flagship Microsoft Stores in NY and Sydney as well as Microsoft Store at Bellevue Square Mall and Microsoft Store at University Village.

There's plenty of interest in original Xbox games coming to the latest consoles and although Spencer says that some of the games hold up better than others, we imagine the memories and nostalgia will more than make up for anything lacking in the visuals.

Backwards compatibility on the Xbox One X will, apparently, work slightly differently to the Xbox One S. According to Spencer, Xbox has still to reveal some "interesting" details on how the feature will work on the upcoming 4K console but seems fairly certain that people will find it "interesting". System-wise, the Xbox is on solid footing.
