Lawler-dos Anjos set for UFC Winnipeg

The UFC announced today that a battle of former champions will headline the company's next FOX special as Robbie Lawler, the former welterweight champion, will face Rafael dos Anjos, the former lightweight champion.

The main event could very well be a title eliminator, meaning the victor would likely get a crack at current 170-pound champion Tyron Woodley, who won the belt off Lawler via knockout at UFC 201 in July of 2016.

UFC on FOX 26 takes place December 16 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. UFC Winnipeg, otherwise known as UFC on Fox 26, takes place December 16.

Lawler was last seen in the cage at UFC 214, when he picked up a close decision win over fellow fan favorite Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.

Lawler (28-11) is a former welterweight champion.

Lawler has fought in some of the UFC's all-time great wars, including wins over Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit. Against dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 26, he'll look to string together a couple of wins to work his way back into title contention.

For dos Anjos, the Brazilian will be looking to keep his undefeated streak going in the 170-pound weight division.

Dos Anjos, meanwhile, last fought at UFC 215, also in Canada, when he dominated long-time contender Neil Magny to a first-round submission win. As such, this fight could very well produce the welterweight division's next title challenger.

The other top fight now on the show is Glover Teixeira (26-6) vs. Misha Cirkunov (13-3).
