Woman, who was caught on camera slapping Army soldier, arrested; auto sized

As the traffic stopped, the army jawan walked up to the woman to seek an explanation for her rash driving and refusal to give them way. The soldier seems to be trying to reason with her while fending off the assault.Ms Kalra, who lives in Gurgaon, had stopped her Tata Indica vehicle in front of an army truck ferrying soldiers , As Reported By NDTV. Subsequently, the driver stopped the auto and was asked by the subedar to talk to Kalra and explain the situation.

The army constable who was driving the truck tried to speak to the woman but she allegedly held his collar, slapped him and hurled abuses at him.

In the mobile video that had gone viral on social media, 44-year-old Smriti Kalra can be seen thrashing a soldier before walking back to her auto.


The NDTV report said that Kalra's vehicle has also been seized. A passer-by clicked a video of the incident in which she is seen acting in an angry manner even as the Armymen remain cool and cordial.

"Without any provocation from our side, the woman started hurling abuses and slapped me and my driver for 5-7 minutes".

Police said Smriti Kalra of Gurugram's Phase-5 was arrested on charges of assaulting a public servant and deterring him from discharging his duty. The viral video was inspected by the Delhi police and the victim was identified as Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Mahavir Singh of the Indian Army. She now lives with her parents in Gurgaon.

The video shows that her auto was stopped in front of an army vehicle on a busy street in Vasant Kunj in Delhi. This made her lose her temper, the cops explained.
