North Korea Is Pushing Its Limits With The Trump Administration

The UN Security Council on Friday strongly condemned North Korea's "highly provocative" missile launch and demanded Pyongyang immediately halt such actions - but did not threaten further sanctions.

Trump made the remark Friday during a speech to military personnel and their families at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, just outside Washington. "This includes the regime of North Korea, which has once again shown its utter contempt for its neighbors and for the entire world community".

With San Francisco or NY in Kim's cross-hairs, would President Trump risk war with the North to defend Seoul or Tokyo in a future crisis?

"The U.N. has shifted over the past several months".

Experts have long questioned if the US could indeed attack North Korea, given its ability to cause massive casualties south of the border. "That creates openings for other leaders like President Emmanuel Macron of France to step up and say that actually they are the guys who are going to lead the United Nations more effectively from now on".

The Trump administration appears to be reaching its limit with North Korea. Now, however, with North Korea perilously close to being able to directly threaten U.S. cities with nuclear obliteration, the worry for some is that Pyongyang could blackmail Washington into qualifying or limiting its support for its allies in the region.

"We ought to make clear what's different about this approach is that we're out of time", McMaster said.

Warnings about the missile blared around 7 a.m. local time in the northern Japanese town of Kamaishi, according to footage from national broadcaster NHK.

And what have the US and its allies achieved?

The North American Aerospace Defense Command also determined that the missile had posed no threat to North America. South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who ran on a platform of improved relations and expanded dialogue with Pyongyang, said after Thursday's missile launch that "dialogue is impossible in a situation like this".

Up until recently, United States assurances to Japan and South Korea have been enough to keep both Seoul and Tokyo closely aligned with Washington in their responses to the North Korean threat.

US President Donald Trump has scheduled talks with leaders of Japan and South Korea to address the crisis. That missile flew more than 2,700 kilometers at a maximum altitude of about 550 kilometers. Russian Federation is the largest employer of North Korean forced labor.

"In case North Korea undertakes provocations against us or our ally, we have the power to destroy them beyond recovery", added Moon, once seen as a liberal dove.

"We call on all nations to take new measures against the Kim [Jong Un] regime", the top USA diplomat said.

"I believe it will further North Korea's isolation - diplomatic and economic isolation - because more and more nations are realising there's simply no collaboration with the worldwide community. China and Russian Federation must indicate their intolerance for these reckless missile launches by taking direct actions of their own", Tillerson demanded.

"I have no problem with kicking it to General Mattis because I think he has plenty of options", Haley said.

Promoting an "America First" agenda at the United Nations. She expected a Trump call for maximum pressure on North Korea.

"There is a military option".
