Bengals Promote Bill Lazor To OC, Fire Ken Zampese

"Ken Zampese has done a tremendous job for us for my 15 years here, and I have the utmost respect for Ken as a person and as a coach", head coach Marvin Lewis said in a statement. The Bengals have lost the first two games of its young season, including its home opener, 20-0, against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been bad to start the season, but Andy Dalton's job is not in jeopardy. Green was publicly vocal in expressing his distaste for the team's start to the season and suggested in part that he needs to get the ball more.

This is the second season in a row a coordinator was sacked following a Thursday-night loss in Week 2.

Those came on 3 field goals in their Thursday-night loss to the Houston Texans. Former Bills coach Rex Ryan jettisoned Greg Roman a year ago despite Buffalo scoring 31 points in a loss to the Jets. "When something like this happens during the season, you can't go much further than that". That's it. It's a superstar-driven league. The Bengals missed the playoffs last season and Lewis is winless in seven playoff games.

"Being one of the leaders of the offense I feel like - no disrespect to nobody else - that ball should be mine somewhere somehow", Green said of the team's final drive. "Whenever the ball is coming, I'm going to try to make a play".

The Bengals' problems obviously run deeper than not throwing to A.J. Green enough-though I imagine that could only help. As the leader of the offense, you should be like that.

He wants the ball, and if he gets it, we know what he'll do because he's shown us. However, most of their offense has played together for some time now.

If Cincinnati's skill position players are put in better position to succeed, improvement from Dalton should follow.
